Beach Day

Saturday was just absolutely gorgeous outside! I love it when my hubby is home, the kids are happy as can be and the sun is shinning! Who could think of a better way to start the day off than by eating BACON! I tell ya, even if I was ever a vegetarian (which will never happen), I'd still eat bacon. We got up, hung out and after Adam got back from his mountain biking, we mosied on down to the beach that's walking distance from my house. It is my favorite beach of all time, so I'm happy how close we live to it! It wasn't crowded at all when we first arrived, so we plopped right down and set up camp. When you have a two year old and a new little one, the beach can seen so daunting. At least for me. It's something I wouldn't do alone, but with Adam there it was quite relaxing. I got to lay out  a bit and Quin was so thrilled to be outside! She loves the outdoors! She was such a good little thing hanging out on the blanket in the shade of the umbrella. Ruby of course was instantly drawn to the water. I'm probably the most anti being in the ocean person you'll ever come across. Wouldn't you know, that is completely opposite of my husband who is a fish and a surfer. His ultimate day would be to go mountain biking and then surfing. He will spend hours out in the water where as the thought of that frightens me. I sort of imagine things being under me that probably aren't, but MAYBE just MAYBE there IS a shark under me. You just can't say. It's to unpredictable for me, as are the waves. I got sucked under by the current once when I was about 11 or 12. I think I've only been in the ocean once or twice since then. (When I went to Hawaii I made an exception.) Ruby wanted to go in the water so I took her down there and put my feet in. She literally dragged me out deeper until the waves were crashing on her. The bigger the better in her opinion. She loved it when they would crash up to her face and I would have to pull her up so she didn't get dunked and she would just laugh and laugh. At one point she grabbed my hand and said "I got you mama! Ruby go swimming!" It was so fun watching her have a ball. I got burned on one shoulder. Always lovely. And there will be no pictures of me in a bathing suite.

My Girlies

The girls are doing great! We are having a blast over here. It's kind of sad how the second child really does get so much less attention. Not really in the fact that we just leave her to sit by herself or anything, more in the way that the little things get overlooked where as when Ruby hit milestones it was HUGE! For instance, Quin has been rolling over now for a good two weeks & I completely forgot to tell Adam about it! That sort of stuff. :) Quin is a little doll! My diet & changes that I've made have helped her so much I can't believe she is the same child. Thank God! She is a sweet little thing and is starting to get vocal. She is smily and so incredibly delicious I want to munch her little face! Ruby is H I L A R I O U S. Every single day she does more & more that cracks me up. She calls the game "Angry Birds" "Hungry Birds." She was reading a book with me yesterday & before she turned each page she would lick her finger. She says "hold you mommy" instead of "hold me mommy." She hums to the Jeopardy song, cries during sad parts in movies, shakes my hand on a frequent basis, says "2, 3, 2 cheese!" instead of "1, 2, 3 cheese!"  She calls things that are small "baby" and things that are large "big daddy." ie "big daddy poop!" Yes. She is something else! She is OBSESSED with pickles (only because they have pickles in the movie "The Little Rascals") and thinks that my zucchini's are pickles, therefore she asks for zucchini's, walks around with them and even has tried eating them a couple times. I've tried to tell her they are NOT pickles, but to no avail. She jumps around the house holding the zucchini singing "I've got  two pickles hey, hey, hey, hey!" Loving the adventure of each new day. Sad that she is growing up, and yet excited to see what the future holds!

Salvage Life

I cannot believe how quickly a couple weeks goes by & then I realize that I need to be blogging more! I've been working quite a bit on the weekends (which is AWESOME) so that takes up a lot of my time where I would otherwise be hanging out with the family & capable of blogging since I'm not the only one with the girls! Today I had a super fun event! I did the make-up for the grand opening of Salvage Life which is a vintage clothing store! Beth (the owner) has an etsy store  & decided to open up a studio/office space! It is seriously adorable! She had five models (who I did make-up for) who dressed up in the vintage clothes Beth sells and were basically living manikins. My sister did a photo shoot with the girls & I cannot wait to see the pictures!! I'll have to post a few when they are all ready.

Here are a few pictures from my day that I took with my phone!

The Weekend!

We had such a fun weekend! I love staying at home and not having much go on, but this weekend was packed full of exciting activities! Saturday we had our dear friend's little boy turn one! We celebrated his birthday with his family & friends. Ruby LOVES her Wyatt!

Sunday we woke up early and were watching the news. They had a whole thing about the city my sister lives in and some really fun discounts for a local kids museum and soda shop! So we last minute decided to drive the hour over to their place and surprise them! Ruby had the best time of her life. She loves her cousins so much and always enjoys being with them. The museum was really cool for the kids, and they enjoyed all of the interesting things they had! I loved the soda shop and was very disappointed I couldn't partake in their Root Beer Floats! They looked good.

Monday we drove down to San Diego to visit our sweet friends who we don't get to see often enough. Phil and Mallory are getting ready to have a baby & I wanted to see them one more time before the new little one arrives! She is SO cute pregnant and I cannot wait to see their little girl in a few weeks! We had a really relaxed time walking around and then had lunch at a quaint little place. Ruby enjoyed running all over the place!!!

After an exciting day we visited with Ruby's other cousins who live two doors down.....

Where I Call Home

I absolutely love where I live. I'm serious, when I have to move (hopefully no time soon) I will bawl my eyes out. Every single day I think "Wow! It's so beautiful here!" I try to enjoy the blessing we have of living by what I consider to be one of the most beautiful beaches.

Behind the Times

I'm not really a flashy or fancy person, and I'm not generally obsessed with electronics or being "up to date" with the hottest new items. This last Thursday I got my very first iphone! I think everyone I've ever known (except the older crowd!) has had an iphone for years. Adam and I didn't really have a reason to get them, since it was more expensive, but recently we joined my brother's family plan and it's actually CHEAPER for both of us to have iphones than it was for us to have the crummiest flip phones you've ever seen! When we got them in the mail I felt like a little kid. We have been having so much fun playing with them! I guess I never knew what I was missing!
